Compass Health Network Joins Health Network of Missouri

May 16, 2018

Compass Health Network has joined the Health Network of Missouri as an affiliate member. Compass Health Network provides a full continuum of behavioral health services as well as primary and dental health services throughout Missouri and in Louisiana.

The Health Network of Missouri was formed in 2014 and comprises Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Hannibal Regional Healthcare System, Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Saint Francis Healthcare System in Cape Girardeau and University of Missouri Health Care in Columbia.

Health Network of Missouri members voted to add Compass Health Network as an affiliate member at a meeting May 11 in Sedalia.

“The mission of the Health Network of Missouri is to improve access and to better coordinate health care for patients in the communities we serve,” said Tom Tisone, executive director of the Health Network of Missouri. “The nation’s health care delivery system is changing rapidly. It’s important that we innovate to develop ways to deliver the right medical care at the right place, at the right time. With its array of services throughout the state, Compass Health Network will help us further this mission.”

Compass Health Network is comprised of Pathways Community Health, Crider Health Center and Royal Oaks Hospital. It is the largest certified community behavioral health center in Missouri, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in designated locations, and engages in community partnerships to provide an integrated health approach for individuals in need. Compass Health Network’s full continuum of services range from acute psychiatric hospitalization to community-based behavioral health, crisis services, outpatient behavioral health, dental care, developmental disabilities support, family medicine and primary care, pharmacy services and substance use disorders treatment. The organization served more than 178,000 patients in fiscal year 2017.

“As a health care agency that thrives on inspiring hope and promoting wellness in the lives of our patients, we’re confident Compass Health will bring a tremendous wealth of knowledge to the Health Network of Missouri,” said Tim Swinfard, Compass Health Network chief executive officer. “We hope to work closely with Health Network of Missouri members to improve the quality, accessibility and outcome of health care services provided in rural Missouri.”

With the addition of Compass Health Network, the Health Network of Missouri will have more than 1,040 hospital beds, more than 13,200 employees and approximately 1,270 affiliated physicians in communities throughout central, northwest and southeast Missouri.

The network’s structure allows members to work together as partners on common goals while enabling each hospital or health system to serve the health care needs of its own community and preserve its independence and unique identity.

Members of the Health Network of Missouri work together to share best practices in business, clinical and operational practices. Major initiatives of the network include:

  • Continuing to improve the health outcomes of patients
  • Sharing data and best practices
  • Improving access to care
  • Ensuring patient care among various providers is coordinated seamlessly through a clinically integrated network
  • Lowering health care costs and creating efficiencies that will benefit the patients and communities we serve
