Prevention Services

Prevention Services

We are proud to serve as a Prevention Resource Center, one of only ten providers leading Missouri in community-based, primary prevention of substance use, suicide, and other behavioral health challenges. Our prevention work focuses on reducing risk factors and building protective factors by strengthening communities, educating individuals, and empowering youth.

Through our contracts with the Missouri Department of Mental Health and the Division of Behavioral Health, we partner with local coalitions, schools, businesses, and other community organizations to create safer, healthier environments where adults and youth can thrive.

Primary prevention focuses on reducing risk and increasing protective factors before substance use or related harms occur. Rather than responding after a crisis, prevention work builds knowledge, resiliency skills, and community systems that support long-term wellness for individuals and communities.

Prevention Consultants of Missouri joined Compass Health Network and has strengthened our prevention services across our southern and central regions.

Compass Health Network Announces Prevention Consultants of Missouri Joining Organization

Compass Health Network Announces Prevention Consultants of Missouri Joining Organization

Clinton, Missouri — Compass Health Network is pleased to announce that Prevention Consultants of Missouri (PCMO) joined the organization, strengthening Compass’s prevention efforts across the state, as of January 1, 2026.

As part of this integration, Jamie Myers, Executive Director of Prevention Consultants of Missouri, will oversee all Department of Mental Health (DMH)–contracted prevention programming for Compass Health Network, including C2000 (Community 2000), Mental Health First Aid, and the Firearm Suicide Prevention Grant. Compass Health Network is a contracted DMH provider of prevention services in 29 Missouri counties, with PCM leading prevention efforts in the southern region of the state.

C2000 is DMH’s statewide prevention framework designed to support community coalitions in reducing substance use and improving youth mental health outcomes. Through this program, Regional Support Centers and local coalitions receive training, technical assistance, and connections to DMH and community resources that strengthen prevention capacity at the local level.

Based in Rolla, Missouri, Prevention Consultants of Missouri has served as a DMH-contracted Prevention Resource Center since 1993, supporting prevention efforts across an eight-county region. In addition to its DMH contracts, PCMO delivers prevention programming through contracts and grants with five additional state and local organizations.

PCMO has a long-standing history of delivering evidence-based prevention programs and community education, including initiatives such as Too Good for Drugs, anger management classes, parent education programs, and counseling services for children and families. For more than 22 years, PCM’s Mentoring Makes a Difference program has provided over 55 local youth annually with one-on-one adult mentors. The organization employs 20 full- and part-time staff members and coordinates nearly 60 volunteers through its mentoring program.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Prevention Consultants to our team,” said Tim Swinfard, President and CEO of Compass Health Network. “Over the past 20 years, I have seen firsthand the meaningful impact Jamie Myers and his team have made in the South-Central Missouri community. Bringing that level of leadership and experience to Compass Health Network’s Prevention team creates a powerful opportunity to expand this work across Central and Western Missouri. Compass is also committed to continued investment in prevention efforts in South Central Missouri. With the many challenges facing today’s youth and families, it is more important than ever to reach individuals early, before concerns escalate or become more serious.”

By integrating Prevention Consultants of Missouri into Compass Health Network, the organization continues to advance its commitment to proactive, community-based prevention services that support youth, families, and communities across Missouri.

“We are excited about the opportunity to enhance substance use prevention efforts for kids, families, and communities across Missouri,” said Jamie Myers, Executive Director of Prevention Consultants of Missouri. “Joining Compass Health Network will help strengthen the positive outcomes we’re seeing in youth substance use prevention, both regionally and statewide. We see and believe in the value of working upstream. With Compass Health’s resources and organizational capacity, we can expand sustainable prevention programs throughout Missouri. Prevention Consultants of Missouri will bring valuable professional experience and innovative strategies, contributing to our collective success in prevention.”

Compass Health Network remains dedicated to investing in prevention as a critical component of behavioral health care. With growing challenges facing youth and families, prevention services play an essential role in reaching individuals early, strengthening protective factors, and promoting long-term wellness.
